To fill a niche for a hometown financial institution, Peoples Bank was established in 1998 to provide our community with a locally owned financial partner. Since opening we have become the “Hometown” Bank of choice, making Peoples Bank one of the fastest growing independent banks in the Midwest.
The success Peoples Bank has enjoyed is due in part to the wonderful community we are fortunate to work with and the truly loyal customers that are fundamental to our achievements. We are special because our customers are special to us, and so we are continually striving to improve our service to them.
Just as important are the people who are involved in the day to day functions of the bank, who create an environment that makes banking a pleasure. We pride ourselves on being a locally owned bank, with a staff that is involved in the community, making us Community Servants…Community Minded. The bank has grown on a solid foundation of our leadership and their philosophy. That philosophy is based on being locally owned with community decisions, and the money staying local to support our communities.
Since our beginning, we have gone from a start up bank to one of the largest banks in Warren County. As we are a maturing bank, we have recognized the need for expansion and have added new locations to better serve our communities. We have grown from eight employees and one location to 40 plus employees and four locations. We have added some new products to fit customer needs and expanded customer service. In the process we’ve added Peoples Bank locations in Carlisle, Milo and Lacona. Milo and Lacona were added in September of 2001 and the Carlisle branch opened in February of 2003.
As we acknowledged the increasing desires of our public, a new chapter in the history of Peoples Bank began. On May 1, 2003, we added People’s Mortgage Company in Indianola. This expansion was designed to offer customers the best possible home lending services, an extension of our excellent products and services that Peoples Bank strives to provide our customers with. The Peoples Mortgage Company task is to provide the best home mortgage products and services in the industry to our communities in Warren County and Central Iowa. Most recently we are excited about our new Indianola location. In October of 2004 we opened up a brand new building on Iowa Avenue. It took big numbers to bring us here…35,500 cubic yards of dirt, 200,000 man-hours of construction, 42,000 bricks and 16,033 yards of concrete to allow us to be open for business in a 15,123 square foot building.
While many other banks are being bought or sold, we continue to be personally committed to ensure that Peoples Bank remains an independent financial institution. Our ownership is what makes us unique — we are large enough to provide the innovative products and services you want; yet small enough to know you by name. Our commitment provides existing customers, future customers and the communities with the financial stability that is so important in this day and age. Our number one goal is to provide superior personal service.
